I am selling my D60 for $500.
But if you read on, I don’t think you will buy it. So please don’t read too much.
Its been 2 years since I have had my D60 with me (well not exactly 2 years but it will be this coming November). And its time I should find a new camera body. Some people say “dude you just bought your camera 2 years ago so you should invest in new lenses”. 2 years ago. Sounds short. Put that 2 years in technological terms and that equates to 20 years worth of new technological advancements.
Back in 2008, perhaps the D60 can be said to be the best entry level DSLRs you can ever find in the market. Well it can shoot continuously at 3fps, has a 10.2mp resolution, a 2.5 inch lcd monitor, has a 3 point-area autofocus, has a stop motion video function and is the lightest DSLR for the Nikon series at 16 ounces.

Now lets put these specs to the year 2010. 3fps- this is bullshit. Entry level cameras can now reach 7fps. 10.2mp resolution- come on! Even point and shoot cameras provide better mps now. 2.5in fixed lcd monitor- dude, I can get a 3 inch rotatable lcd monitor now. 3 point area autofocus- 15 point area autofocus is the standard for current entry level cameras. Stop motion video- who gives a shit about stop motion video. Now we can get the real video function in full HD. Lightest DSLR- well I can get something lighter than that.
So you see. In that span of 2 years, technology has catch up with DSLRs rather drastically. I will recommend all owners who are holding shitty DSLR cameras right now to sell theirs off and buy a new one. This is the best time to get a new DSLR. The latest generation of DSLRs have come to a stage where the technology potential have almost reached its maximum stage. You wouldn’t see any major technology add-ons to the DSLRs in the years to come (well perhaps 3D technology but it still has not taken off yet). The only thing that will happen in the future generations of DSLRs- current technology will be enhanced such as a more lighter body or a larger LCD screen with touchscreen. Nothing too drastic.
So buying now will be viable since the technology present in the current generation of DSLRs should last for at least the next 3-4 years. I also did some research at the market to find a replacement for my D60. Glad to say that I might have just found the right one.
Having been with Nikon for the past 2 years, I would say it has served me quite well. But I won’t come close to say that I will replace my current Nikon with another Nikon. Nikon seems to be lagging behind in innovation. Its latest entry level DSLR, the D3100 just turns out to be a minor upgrade to its predecessor, the D3000 (although commendable for being the world’s first autofocus video recording mode). And please don’t mention Canon. Have never liked it since the beginning.
Perhaps this has partly got to do with my horrible HORRIBLE experience handling the school’s really really REALLY obsolete Canon cameras. WE NEED NEW CAMERAS.
The Sony Alpha A33 (scroll down a bit more to see the picture). The bestest entry level DSLR in the market right now. Until now, I have never actually looked at the Alpha range twice. Thanks to its innovation, Sony can now be considered as a strong contender against the BIG 2 in the DSLR market right now.

The translucent mirror in the A33 is a true innovation. By reducing the time that is wasted from the mirror that has to flap up and down previously for every frame, it allows for a faster fps to be implemented in an entry level DSLR (comparing D3100 at 4fps). This is a real plus point for the A33.
Why I like the A33 in summary:
- 7fps thanks to its translucent mirror
- 14.2mps
- Continuous autofocus in video recording mode (same as the D3100)
- Translucent mirror innovation
- 15 ounce
- Other features: http://goo.gl/DXBJ
Just listen to the shutter speed. http://goo.gl/PV3S It seriously sounds like what a high end DSLR could do. I sound as though the A33 is in my hands now. Haha… honestly I haven’t even seen one yet. Let alone try it out (hint for sponsor). But I really don’t think I will be disappointed even if I manage to do a hands-on for this camera. A33 has to be 2010′s best entry level DSLR.
Agree?
After all this debacle, yes I am still selling my D60 for $500. LOL
Good bargain leh considering that it comes with full accessories and is in 10/10 condition.

Deutschland is 3rd!
3-2
Close game. Uruguay was tough.
Diego Forlan (31) deserved a special mention.
The yongest and the oldest will be fighting for the golden boot.
Thomas Müller (20) and Diego Forlan (31). 5 goals each.

Danke. Muller, Jansen und Khedira.
When you speak of Breaking Benjamin, Diary of Jane comes to mind.
That’s what they are famous for.
“I Will Not Bow” is their song that is stuck in my head now.
It’s the official song for the film Surrogates.
Film theme songs usually sucks. But I kind of like this one. http://goo.gl/D1qK
Except for maybe his fail face at the start of the video.
